WELCOME
We are pleased to invite you to Vienna to attend ISMSM-5, the 5th International Symposium on Microbial Sulfur Metabolism!
The regular meetings on microbial sulfur metabolism (2006 Münster - DE, 2009 Tomar - PT, 2012 Noordwijkerhout - NL, 2015 Helsingør - DK) are the prime opportunity for sharing the latest scientific research related to sulfur metabolism, links between sulfur cycling and other elemental cycles, sulfur-driven symbiosis between microbes and eukaryotes, and applications of insights from fundamental science to technical and environmental systems.
Be prepared for an exciting program that includes sessions on new physiologies and organisms, biogeochemistry and stable isotopes, genetics and biochemistry, biotechnology, symbiosis, evolution and, ecology. This wide range of topics will be covered by a vibrant mixture of keynote lectures, invited and contributed talks, and posters from leading experts and young scientists.
ISMSM-5 will take place right after the annual General Assembly of the European Geoscience Union in Vienna - EGU2018
Social activities will include an opening reception, a conference dinner in the historic city hall of Vienna, and a get-together during the poster session.
The beautiful city of Vienna is not only the world’s capital of music – it features a World Heritage historic center, a huge number of top art galleries and museums, excellent wining and dining opportunities, fantastic hiking opportunities through vineyards and the Vienna Woods, and many other attractions.
On behalf of the Scientific Committee and our teams at the University of Vienna, we look forward to seeing you in Vienna!
